Have you ever, in one way or another, crossed the Øresund Bridge?

On 1 July 2000 the Øresund Bridge was inaugurated, the fixed link between Sweden and Denmark. It is sixteen kilometres long and consists of a bridge, a tunnel and the artificial island of Peberholm. The Øresund Bridge is operated by Øresundsbro Konsortiet. Their goal is to create integration in the Öresund region and make it easy for everyone to move safely, quickly and climate-friendly across the Øresund, while the construction of the bridge is financed. The financing is to be paid off by 2050.

We spoke to Christian Nilsson, who works as head of the customer centre at Øresundsbro Konsortiet, whose windows look out over the toll station on the Swedish side:

  • Every day 17–20 thousand cars pass here outside; during high season it's up to 30,000 cars per day, says Christian. On an annual basis, more than 93.5% of all who cross the bridge manage on their own, without any help from us. But 7.5% of twenty thousand is a fairly high number - most get help directly at the toll station, but around 200,000 cases are generated for our customer centre each year.

Bilvision has provided Øresundsbro Konsortiet with vehicle information since February 2023. The collaboration between the two companies began to ease the work for Øresundsbro Konsortiet.

  • The information we receive from Bilvision is worth its weight in gold. It's a quality assurance from a data-protection perspective - we comply with GDPR and we know we have the right data stored, Christian continues. It saves us both time and money, but also gives us the opportunity to develop our services towards our customers, so they get a better experience while we reduce the risk of extra work for the customer.

Thanks to the information Øresundsbro Konsortiet now receives, they can help customers ensure they key in the correct registration number, that they don't sign a private agreement for a company-owned car, and add an end-time for a rental car to avoid paying for someone else's crossings.

  • We're very happy about this collaboration. Bilvision is easy to work with, and by understanding our challenges, Bilvision can help us make our day-to-day both better and easier, Christian concludes.
